Gulliver's Dinosaur & Farm Park Visit 21/3/2019

Today we visited Gulliver's Dinosaur & Farm Park. We went hunting for fossils, made slime and even made our own dinosaur biscuit! We enjoyed learning even more about dinosaurs and could not believe how big some of them were!

Science Week 11th-15th March 2019

This week we have been to dinosaur school! We have become paleontologists and have been searching for dinosaur fossils in our school grounds. We have taken part in lots of exciting activities throughout the week such as making a dinosaur boat, creating our own dinosaur fossil and designing a dinosaur tooth. Here are some photos from our week.

Take a look at our learning from over the past term!

Our Curriculum

This term's topic is The Enchanted Woodland!

This week a fairy door has appeared within the class. Every morning, fairy dust has been found within the classroom and Jellyfish have been thinking about how we can catch the fairy to ask her questions.

In English, we will be thinking about the class fairy and will be writing our own 'Tinga Tinga' tale about 'how the fairy got her wings. We will look at using narrative language, commas within a list and apostrophes for posession and contractions. We will continue to practise our spelling every week and will have our spelling test on Thursdays.

In Maths we will be continuing to practise our 2, 5 and 10 times tables and the corresponding division facts. We will also be looking at doubling and halving two digit numbers. Money is a final focus of the half term, and we will be looking at the different ways to make an amount.

In Science we are learning how plants grow. We will be learning about the different parts of a plants and their purposes. We are excited to grow some different vegetables and flowers in the growing area outdoors.

In Computing we will be learning how to use write and read an algorithm. We will be learning the shortcuts for forward and backwards and asking our partners to complete the algorithm whilst moving our bodies.

In Topic we will be designing and creating fairy doors. We will also be creating a moving fairy, using levers.

In PE we will be learning to improve our athletic skills. We are excited to start swimming lessons this term too!

In PSHE we will be learning about how to achieve our dreams and goals. We will be exploring ways to be resilient and how to persevere when challenges are difficult.

In Music we will be learning to play the ocarina.

Every day, we take on different reading challenges in our BIG Reading sessions. We have different characters who remind us how to be an effective reader: how to retrieve information, explore a text, analyse features and detect clues. Each week your child will be given a target for their reading during their guided reading session. Please help us to reach these targets through questioning when reading at home.

We will continue to try to beat our school in Big Maths! We do Big Maths every Friday and some of us are now trying to answer 15 questions in 20 seconds!
