International Schools

Peartree Spring has been awarded the British Council International School Award, which recognises schools that have excelled in the area of international learning. We are delighted to inform you that we have recently been awarded the ISA from September 2018 - August 2021.

What is the International School Award?

The Award is an internationally recognised accreditation, awarded to schools which forge links with partners overseas and add an international dimension to the curriculum. Through working on joint projects and adding international elements to lessons, pupils (and teachers) are given a fresh perspective on the world and their place in it.

By taking part in the International School Award, we have:

  • linked with other schools around the world
  • taught pupils about other countries and cultures
  • prepared pupils for living and working in a global economy
  • Enhanced teaching standards through sharing best practice and teaching methods
  • Added an International ethos for the school as a whole

At Peartree Spring Primary School we celebrate diversity as a key part to the school ethos. By adding to the International element across the school curriculum, we have extended the work with the global dimension across the curriculum. The International Schools Award links to the school’s Rights Respecting Schools agenda, article 29 ‘Your education should help you to live peacefully and respect other peoples beliefs’.

International Schools Ethos:

We aim to establish a school in which all curriculum areas adopt an international focus. We are keen to forge links with other countries. Visitors from abroad are welcome.

International Schools Aims

  • We aim to provide opportunities so our pupils are successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
  • We believe our pupils and their teachers should be made aware of education systems and cultural environments across the world.
  • We recognise that education is of global significance and we all seek to gain by sharing and supporting links with other countries.

Objectives for 2017/2018:

  • To provide genuine commitment on behalf of the Senior Leadership Team and the Governing Body with regards to International Education.
  • All pupils will be made aware of international links as part of the creative curriculum.
  • All pupils will have equal opportunities, free from discrimination.
  • Opportunities will be given to pupils to share their culture and backgrounds.
  • Resources will be made available to support educational links with other schools.
  • To gain the Reaccreditation of the International Schools Award.

At Peartree Spring Primary School we aim to promote links within our own community but also to reach beyond to Europe and the world to ensure that the pupils are given opportunities to broaden their horizons and raise their self-esteem. We feel that this will help our students recognise their contribution and responsibilities as citizens of the global community whilst critically examining their own values and attitudes and appreciating the similarities between people everywhere, whilst valuing diversity. All of our International work is subject to on-going monitoring and review and we continuously improve and develop to raise the achievement and self-esteem of our children.
