Firm Foundations

In reading, we have been enjoying the Jamie Drake Equation by Christopher Edge.  It tells the story of an astronaut's son, Jamie, and his unsual communications with an alien world!  We are enjoying the book as a whole class; taking part in listening, echo reading and answering comprehension questions to extend our understanding of the story and its characters.

PLEASE HEAR YOUR CHILD READ EACH NIGHT AND SIGN THEIR READING RECORD – HOUSE POINTS ARE AWARDED FOR HOME READING!

In Maths we will be learning:

• Times Tables – dedicated sessions to help learn tables up to 12x12

Problem solving across a range of areas to apply our skills.

Developing more efficient ways to multiply and divide.

Learning how to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator.

We will also be trying very hard to beat our ‘Big Maths’ scores each week, who will get 10 out of 10 next

English and Topic

We are so excited to be learning about SPACE this term.  Our inspiration is taken from Neil Armstrong's famous moon-landing quote.  Through research, we have learnt all about Neil Armstrong's life in order to write a biography and we will later 'become a space hero' as we take on the role of Neil Armstrong's great grandchild and go on our own mission into space!

Science

In Science this term, we will continue to explore space, including discovering how some of history's greatest minds have refined, and sometimes completely changed, their theories about the Earth, Moon and space. We will discover why different parts of the world have different time zones and how these differ.

PE

Please make sure you have your correct PE kit in every day, you may need jogging bottoms too as the weather starts to change.  We are going to be using our team skills to develop our abilities in invasion games including hockey this spring term. We will also be developing our gymnastics skills include ways to balance and travel and perform sequences.
