Peartree Spring Junior School is housed in a well-resourced, bright building, set in large grounds in the Shephall area of Stevenage. It is in easy reach of the A1M. We cater for children between the ages of 7 and 11 and have an admission limit of 90 children in each year group. The school shares its site with its main feeder school - Peartree Spring Infants.

The teachers in the school are well supported by the teaching assistants, the Pastoral Support team, parents and Governors. We have high expectations of the behaviour of the children and we are working hard to raise standards of attainment in academic achievements.

Our Building has twelve classrooms organised in groups of three, with a shared resource area for each group. We have a networked computer system and have recently improved our ICT resources. The school also has a large hall which is used for assemblies, drama, indoor P.E. lessons such as dance or gymnastics and lunch. There is a hard play area and a large expanse of grass; we also have a wildlife pond.

History of Peartree Spring Junior School

Peartree Spring Junior and Infant Schools were opened in April 1955, but the first children were taught in Heathcote Secondary School, as Peartree Spring buildings were not ready for occupation. In September of that year the children in both schools moved into their own building, in April 1999 Peartree Spring Junior School moved into a new building on the same site, the old building was demolished and a new playground and playing fields were developed. On 25th April 2005 we celebrated our 50th birthday.
